Strathy Road Water Tower Rehabilitation & Upgrades
Please be advised that the Strathy Road water tower in Cobourg will undergo complete rehabilitation starting in early Spring. The project has been tendered and awarded to Landmark Municipal Services ULC who will begin preparation for the rehabilitation work shortly.
The rehabilitation work will include the complete replacement of the interior and exterior coating systems, as well as safety upgrades to the interior appurtenances and roof area which entails handrail replacement, hatch installations and other safety improvements. Planned work will also involve the installation of a hydrodynamic mixing system, electrical upgrades and minor site work. A scaffolding and hoarding structure will be installed around the tower to complete the coating replacement work. Construction of the scaffolding structure is expected to commence in early Spring.
Please note that the water tower will be taken out of service on April 1st, 2019 and will remain offline until October 2019. While the water tower is an important part of the local distribution system, Lakefront Utility Services Inc. has made appropriate arrangements to maintain adequate water supply for the duration of the rehabilitation project.
Disruptions to the water supply are not expected, however Cobourg customers are asked to please consider limiting water use in the summer months to reduce demand on the system during the construction period. Lakefront Utility Services Inc. expects the water tower to be back in service by the end of October 2019.
