Potential Postal Disruption Gives Customers Options

In preparation for a possible strike by the Canadian Postal Workers Union, Lakefront Utility Services Inc. encourages customers to sign up for e-Billing, Pre-Authorized Payment or to download the Lakefront Mobile App to ensure minimal disruption to their monthly bill and to avoid overdue interest and fees.


Make the switch to paperless billing! With e-Billing you will receive a notification directly to your inbox that your bill is ready – allowing you access to your bill anywhere, anytime. You can also view  your billing and usage history at the click of a button. Plus, it’s an environmentally-friendly alternative to receiving your invoice statements by mail.

Pre-Authorized Payment

The “net amount” of your bill will be withdrawn from your bank account on the due date printed on your bill. You will continue to receive your bills, as usual, showing the amount that will be withdrawn. A message will appear on your bill telling you that you are a Pre Authorized Payment, P.A.P., customer and not to pay the bill, as it will come out of your bank account automatically on the due date. We require a void cheque and a signature to set your account up for P.A.P.

Budget Payment Plan

Make budgeting easier by signing up for our Budget Payment Plan. Your billing costs for the year are estimated based on past usage and spread equally over the year, based on 11 equal monthly payments and the 12th month (November 2018) being the “catch up month”. The payments are automatically withdrawn from your account on the 6th or the 20th (your choice) of each month. You will receive your bills as usual with a message on the bill indicating you are a Pre Authorized Payment, P.A.P. customer, on our Budget Plan and indicating that you are not to pay the bill, as your equal billing payment will come out on the 6th or the 20th of each month. We suggest that you keep an eye on the status of your account to make sure the balance does not get too high. Your account will be reconciled yearly and a new equal payment amount will be calculated. If you wish to sign up for budget billing we will need to calculate the monthly amount, for you, and we will need a void cheque and a signature.

Lakefront’s Mobile Application

The Lakefront Utilities mobile application brings Electricity and Water Information to your fingertips through the comfort of your own mobile device. Customers can easily access detailed billing data which includes current billing information as well as an archive of past bills for Electricity and Water usage. Customers’ consumption information is displayed graphically to easily compare past energy usage. The App also allows users to report currently active outages and displays planned and unplanned outage details including a map of the affected area and notifies customers of current power outages within the service territory. Lastly, customers can stay up to date with Lakefront Utilities, never miss out on key updates, news and information about Lakefront Utilities and the community.

Other alternatives include using telephone or internet banking to process payments through your financial institution, and visiting Lakefront’s Office at 207 Division Street, Cobourg.
