Service Interruptions
If you are experiencing a power interruption, first check to see whether your neighbours are also affected. If they are, then report the problem by calling 905-372-2193.
Electricity off at your home
If the electricity is off only at your home, you should check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers which may indicate a wiring problem or an overloaded circuit. Before replacing a fuse or resetting the breaker, unplug or turn off appliances connected to the affected circuit. If you are unable to diagnose the problem or if it persists, you should call a qualified electrical contractor.
Emergency phone number
Call 905-372-2193 to report power outages, or any problems with our supply system.
Routine service interruptions
Occasionally service may be interrupted to permit us to make repairs and perform routine upgrading and maintenance to our systems. If the interruption is going to be of a lengthy nature and we are aware of it in advance we will make every effort to notify the customers affected by a direct notice delivered to your door.
Coping with service interruptions
Reliable, safe service is a top priority for us. Service interruptions are infrequent and usually relatively short in duration. The possibility of longer interruptions due to extreme weather or breakdown of major system components is always present.
Power failure Precautions
There are several precautions that you can take to deal with electrical power failures:
- Keep emergency supplies and equipment handy.
- Unplug or turn off appliances to avoid possible damage when power is restored. Leave one light on so you know when the power is back on.
- Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. Most refrigerated food will last about 24 hours. A full freezer will keep food frozen 24 to 48 hours.
When power is restored:
Check your refrigerator and freezer. Make sure they are operating.
Reset your clocks.
